Our Story
Roane Custom Beef and Pork was inspired by the empty meat shelves we experienced during the COVID 19 pandemic. This fear-inducing event created a new phenomena, the “food-insecure family.” But why, when our TN hills are teaming with healthy farm-raised herds? Upon further research, we found that Roane County doesn’t have its own meat processing plant. This lack of capacity forces our farmers to sell their animals to the large out-of-state corporate feedlots who often don’t pay our producers fairly. Our new modern meat processing plant aims to remedy this by combining large-plant efficiencies with the care and craftsmanship of a mom-and-pop butchery, reclaiming Roane’s food sovereignty in the process.
